I wouldn't update bios unless something isn't working or working properly and the only solution from a reputable forum saying that the bios needs updating then that's when I would

If your installing new CPU not supported by the current bios that would be supported in the new bios. make sure you have stable power if computer shuts off before bios update is done your board will be done
