Absolutely yes it is worth buy a 1080 at the moment. No one knows what's going on with RX Vega and NO ONE knows when Volta is coming. The GTX 1080 is the second best card on the market. Its amazing.

I'd say yes if you're not in the market for a Ti. Amd's recent line wasn't strong enough to push Nvidia into putting new cards out any time soon and the release of the Ti gave the regular 1080 line a decent price drop.
