I know what you mean. I stared at those mountains too and wondered in the lore of Hyrule, what the islands could be.

I'm often amazed at the detail Nintendo put into the "unreachable Hyrule" above the cliffs at the edge of the map. It looks absolutely beautiful; it's a shame we don't get to explore it.
