Risky one..
With sli support, 960s are far better. However you can face things like micro stutter, and sometimes only run off one card.

I don't know how much better they are the 1060 is almost in par with a 980

I'm going to go with single 1060 here for support etc. SLI doesn't scale perfectly as it is, and, a GTX 960 on paper is half of a GTX 980.

I'm LITERALLY the worlds' first person to take a GTX 980 home and I still own it. Tomorrow I'm getting my GTX 1060 Max Q laptop; I plan on benching things about as evenly as I can (same res, RAM, same CPU core and frequency) and I'll probably post results to this group

Sli is better but not a lot of games offer sli support so 1060 is better choice

I'm not sure where you guys get the sli being better I just looked up benches and most games favor the 1060 and it's neck and neck on the ones that do favor the 960 so here's the conclusion , go 1060 it's equal or better in all games to the sli 960s and your getting 6gb of higher bandwidth ram

I'd save up for a better single gpu if you can find one that doesn't cost ridiculous amount. 1070 maybe...
