I'd upgrade the GPU and maybe more RAM...
I'm still rocking an i7 870 with 8gb ram and a 1050Ti, has no hesitation at all, especially with an SSD.

Just a better graphics card. RX 580 or the GTX1060 anyone will be enough. Upgrade 4-8 GB RAM extra if you have money left.

well that system is fine just get a decent gpu..

but if you wish to upgrade then you have to buy 3 major components
1151 socket board
a processor and
a ddr4 ram
along with a gpu that is kinda necessity now

Any CPU upgrade, will require a new motherboard for different socket and 99% likely to need DDR4
