Hello Everyone, i'm a total noob at this game and wonder if i should change my exotic armor for a rare with higher deffence rate or not? and how long should i keep it that way?

if it significantly increases your light, yes. Otherwise you can always infuse higher light-level-gear into lower-lightlevel-gear. To increase the lightlevel of that exotic. You will have to need legendary shards for that, which you get by dismantling legendary weapons

Yeah man I would say only prioritise exotics at a high power level when rares become irrelevant
