Yes. I had a 7600k with a 1080ti FE and it was fine

Alright cool, does the board matter? I mean I think my boards just fine but just want to make sure when I get the cash together and order, I don’t run into issues

Lol I still run a OCed 4670k with a 1080ti with no issues

Better off going with and 8350k i3 lol, although that's extra cost for a motherboard... But upgrading would be possible.. more possible than the other socket lol

I've got an i5 7600k @ 4.8Ghz with a 1080ti and serving me fine. I also went GPU then monitor, definitely the way to go. I was on a cheap 1080p monitor for a while with it and you can literally run everything maxed and get 200+ FPS on most things which was fun. Now I'm on a 1440p 165hz and it's fantastic. I'm on a Z270 SLI plus mobo as well which is the same caliber as yours and it's fine, I've got everything on a decent oc as well.

For a lot of games, but some of the newer ones it would start holding it back

I had the same i5 for 4 years, it was running everything fine. Only thing I switched out ever was the gpu.
