First off, is this a store bought HP , Dell or something?

You need to consider the PSU.

Check the PSU to make sure you've got connectors to power a newer GPU. If not, you should be looking for a GPU that doesn't require additional power cables.

it's a 550 watt power supply but yes power cables could be a problem
