Went to micro center today to build my kids friend a pc he wanted the same gpu as I have rd 480 sapphire they were sold out then he showed me on eBay the card is selling for over 500.00 used he said they are using it for mining whatever that is how can that gpu be work more then I bought it for new he said sell it and get a 1080

Thats increase in demand but no supply. Or delibrately created shortage.

a lot of people ARE doing that: selling their 580's for 1080's while miners snatch em up. 580 does more MH/s than a 1080 (except apparently on new drivers, I have yet to see that myself) so the 580 is STILL a better buy than even a 1080 when it comes to mining (but that doesn't make it cost-effective lol, just means its a slightly better deal)
