So I’m planning on upgrading my gpu come tax time. Using three monitors, one I’m gaming being a 34 inch 2560x1080 ultrawide with freesync if I remember correctly. If I’m not using 4K would I be fine with the 1080 for ultra settings, or should I hold on to a little extra cash and get the ti to be safe?

1080 is plenty for that resolution.

The price difference isn't worth it in my opinion if only at 2560x1080, but it's his money. If he wants to go all out, he can.

Get a 144hz monitor for gaming if you're getting a gtx 1080. Cause without v sync on that monitor. You'll. Have screen tearing at 100 fps+

If you have freesync you could go amd :^))))) sorry a joke. I think the price difference is completely justified. 33% increase is insane. But if youre only gaming on 2560x1080, a 1080 should do. If youre planning to upgrade to 1440p panels or 4k panels id recommend saving a bit for the ti.
