Question to diamond players and above:

Do placements account for rank decay? I usually finish the season at 3000 due to rank decay because of my work shifts I'm not online for large chunks at a time (#feelsbadman #ripevergettingtomaster).

My placements this season were 10 of the worst games I think I've had since comp started yet I still placed this high? Surely if I finished at 3000 all these bad games should tank my placement SR to around 2700?

Not necessarily. Your placements are strictly performance based as far as everyone can tell. You could lose every game and technically place higher than you finished last season. Decay does add a very odd factor into it though. I’m not sure if the game takes into account that you decayed, and still perform at your career/season high level.

Decay doesnt count. For example i got to 4200 last season but decayed all the way to 3500. Yet i placed at 3155 and played against gms

I don’t decay matters
I decayed from 4300 to 4000 and still placed 4200
Likewise I placed 4200 decayed to 3800 and still placed 4100
