Others may tell you different, however I would say no. I have a mate who's still using an i7 3770k. He records all his games and edits them and he wouldn't swap that old Intel chip for anything atm.

Nope, unless you suddenly require much more cpu power and are interested in other programs, you should "think about it"
My 6600K will keep me cozy, i cant even think of an upgrade idea until it dies lel

not even close. it's just a refresh, same architecture minor improvements, and you need a whole 'nother socket.

Here's my advice. Ask yourself, "is my processor holding me back?" If the answer is no, don't upgrade.

Science Studio YouTube did a comparison of 8700k and 6700k. In gaming, frame increases were marginal so no point if its just media and gaming. But for heavy cpu loads, the 8700k was miles better.

Every next generation of processors are meh compared to how much GPUs change

if you look back a 4th gen i5 still doesn't bottleneck a 1070 and that processor is 4 years old

If you are mostly gaming I don't think you need to upgrade the CPU for atleast 2-3 years
