I'm not sure if I'm understanding correctly ... if i wait till im say 300 power will this engram still drop a 259 level item? Basically I was told that some things I should hold on to untill I reach 270ish.. Is this one of them? I'm currently 255 .. Not sure how all this works. Thanks for your patience.

Only powerfull gear will drop above current light after 270ish. Often rewards from milestones which you can do every week. Also clan rewards will be higher than your light. Thats how you will get to 305. Engrams like in the picture wont change. Even when your light is higher

Legendary engrams decrypt at the same light no matter what your level luminous and exotic grow with your light so luminous engram decrypts at 259 when you are 240 keep it and when you are 270 it will decrypt at 270 +
