Maybe I'm super blind but I haven't noticed much difference between my old 1080p monitor and the new 1440. On the other hand having IPS and Gsync. . .

There is a pleasant difference. After a while you will still notice some jaggies etc but not as bad as 1080p. I always used the garage scene from war thunder to judge jagged lines because of all the support beams/windows in the plane hangers. 1440p is something like 70/80% more pixels then 1080p. 4k would be a very noticable difference
