hey guys I have an old 3.5 HDD from my old PC I want to buy a data USB adapter, but the problem is that USB can't give enough power to it.I want to ask can I take out my old PC power supply 300w to power it up. the power supply is in the old computer I want to use it without starting the old computer can I do that ?

you can unplug the PSU's 24-pin cable and bridge it so it'll start up and power the HDD like that, or you can buy a powered HDD enclosure

Or you can get a 3.5 inch hdd dock with a dc adapter to power it.
