Good morning my fellow people of the master race,
A quick question:
Yesterday I was offered an i7 4790k together with 16gb ddr3 RAM for a total of €245.
I’m currently running an i5 4690k with 8gb RAM and in doubt whether I should buy the CPU(€175) and RAM(€70) or maybe just the RAM.
The CPU has alwys been watercooled and not overclocked as far as I know.
From the benchmarks I see there is little increase of FPS with the i7, keeping in mind that they are all pretty old. I’m not really sure whether the games of today support the multi-threading technology the i7 offers, which would increase the fps I assume.
What would you guys recommend, is it worth changing the CPU? Or would I gain more ‘bang-for-your-buck-performance’ by just changing the RAM? (Which I need to do anyways)
The CPU has been delidded I’ve been told. I will use it for gaming 99% of the time, pretty much only AAA titles.
My current setup:
MSI Gaming 5
Intel i5 4690K (base clock)
8GB RAM
GTX 1070 8GB
Thanks a bunch, cheers!
