Redwoods by red ob in Redland area is amazing.. metal.. beaver spawns..an real easy artifact cave. Oil pump is just North some in killer snow. Also quetz fly low and generally get stuck in trees so are super easy to solo tame. Right next to volcano so can fly or even ride over for obsidiean or crystal. Red obby redwoods right on snow boarder is the best I feel.

Ok let me be real here. Some of the besr base places are in the south west part of the map they a a cluster of islands and most only have like 1 land entrence.

Sw is swamp lands I'd avoid that at all cost as a newbies
