So now Intel is planning Ice Lake for the 2nd half of 2018. With this, they're gonna try to make a mainstream 8 core/16 thread CPU like AMD. Coffee Lake has been out for a month and it included a mainstream 6 core/12 thread CPU, the i7-8700k. This replace the Kaby Lake and Sky Lake lineup. X299 was the latest upgrade to the Kaby Lake and Sky Lake lineups and it got me thinking about Cannon Lake. What if Cannon Lake is released sometime between now and mid 2018, maybe sometime between March and June to upgrade Cannon Lake, like how X299 upgraded Kaby Lake and Sky Lake, and have Ice Lake be Intel's 9th generation being released between August and October with the i7-9700k being their mainstream 8 core/16 thread processor. What do you guys think?
