I just completed my very first build about 10 minutes ago and I'm lost. I connected my monitor via D-Sub (it's what came with the monitor), but I'm not receiving signal.

Any ideas?

Looks like you're currently connected to your onboard graphics. Remove GPU and wait until you get the correct cables if you want to check your build

Bro if you want to use mobo graphic vga port first remove you graphic card

He's running AM4 guys, so if it's a Ryzen cpu there's no on board video anyway.

Plug it into your TV via HDMI just to check that it's working and fine, to alleviate any stress you may have with your first build.

Then you need a converter or new monitor/cable from the sounds of it.

Why u still on vga cable! Buy a dvi or hdmi cable and connect it to your graphics card slot not your motherboard port
