my 500gb external ,has stopped being detected but everything seems to be fine no HDD...

my 500gb external ,has stopped being detected but everything seems to be fine no HDD noise for damage ,what could be the issue??

Does it show up in disk manager?

If it still has warranty, RMA it. If it doesn't, open the casing and see if the drive is connected to some sata->usb board, if it is, pull the drive out and the board off the drive. Connect it to your pc as you do normally and if it shows up, you found your problem.
