Sure, they did Skyrim, but that game did come out in 2011.

Games of any size can put on a cartridge, major problem so far is that companies like 2K have only used 16 or 32gb carts for NBA and WWE that's why the DL has been needed and Bethesda did then same with DOOM too.
Big games just need to go into big cards which sadly means higher costs to make as drives retail cost up a little more too.
I'm more than happy to have a smaller retail version that I then DL the remaining data when I get it home if it saves me spending and extra $30-40 every title just so it's a 'full' version out of the box.

I think commercialism has exhausted the retro fad. It's time to do original designs instead of just recycling old designs just because they're nostalgic. Leave that stuff to third parties.
