I have a chance to trade my 1080 for a evga 1060 6gb and this Acer monitor..

Will the 1060 be able to run games at 1440 with some authority ?

Stay with the 1080 - why would you willingly take a downgrade, even if it does offer a new monitor into the deal?? 1060 is never going to perform as good as the 1080 you currently have.

Nope .. you need gtx 1080 ti or the best on sli . for 1440p at 144hz on AAA game . My pc 6800k + gtx 1080 only can run gta on max setting 105-120fps on monitor 1080p 144hz , for other fps game would be always max fps 150

never downgrade .... so the 1060 is weak for the future games... so stay with the 1080 and save money for 144 monitor , even that 1060 is too weak for this monitor..

1 that gpu can't do 144hz and 2 its freesync which does you no good . that's a big downgrade
