I got an email from steam that my account was hacked. They had my correct login and password but never got in because of the email verification number. It was an IP address in Ukraine. That’s so crazy I had a really complicated password how they figured it out I don’t know. I changed all my passwords today though.

i get those a lot. two step is an esssential these days. i think they probably use a brute force program, taking usernames and then using a program to try different combinations for a password. the 'tossing things at the wall to see what sticks' approach. this is why you should always have two step for your stuff, whether it be Steam, Facebook, etc. i had an ex who tried to log into my stuff before, and i found out it was her. the local PD had to pay her a visit, as it kinda constituted identity fraud, and they had already had to speak to her about other things (this was post breakup)

Do you use the same password for each platform? One compromised account with password xyz could be taken from there, cracked and then seen in plain text.
