What about the fan base is so cancerous? Genuine question. I've heard it a lot, but never played the game, so have no reference point.

I am keen to give the game a shot though. Anything that is loved that much must have some redeeming qualities.

I used to be in the Fandom. Note, I said "used to". If you wanna play the game, just play it. It's an amazing game with good story and gameplay. All you have to do is; Avoid the Fandom.
