Explanation of each non-human character in ProtoGod

ProtoGod's colorful cast of characters is perhaps the game's most prominent feature. Because Protagami takes place in a fantasy world, there are many non-human characters. These add a little special light to the list of nations that make up the world of Hoyoverse.

Each country has its own list of non-human playable characters, covering only those characters identified as non-human based on lore or appearance. Some characters may have unique or special costumes, but this does not confirm that they are non-human. Players can prepare enough Genshin Impact Genesis Crystals in the game.

Monde's Non-Human Characters

Munde is the first country players encounter in the game and is set primarily in Germany, with some inspiration from other European countries. The city-state of Mond is depicted as a typical medieval city in a fantasy world. Despite the fact that Mond is set in the birthplace of the famous fairy tale, so far Mond itself does not have as many non-human characters as other countries. Even some of the characters who live in Mundstadt are not actually from Mundstadt, such as Albedo and Klee.

Albedo: Homunculus/Synthetic Man. He can be considered a different type of human, but Albedo was created by the alchemist Lennedottir, and he is not the only Albedo on Tivat as implied in the "Shadows in the Storm" quest.

Diana: The descendant of the Kazarin bloodline. She inherited cat ears and a tricolor cat-like tail.

Keli: An unknown elven species. Clee's elf ears are a distinctive marker, and her lifespan is probably similar to that of her mother Alice, who is about 500 years old.

Cane: An unknown partially animal species. She has animal ears, but it is unclear what animal/species she corresponds to.

Venti: Wind spirit/god. Before becoming a wind god consul, Venti was a small elemental spirit. As Barbatos, he resembled his late friend the Nameless Bard in appearance. Now, like the Nameless Bard, he walks among the Tivat.

Liyue's Non-Human Characters

Liyue's most famous non-human character is the Luminous Beast/Cultivator. The difference between these two terms is that adepti is a general term for all sacred beings or people with special gifts or powers, while luminous beasts can be used to refer to specific sacred species. Many of the Luminous Beasts of the Luna are inspired by creatures from Chinese mythology. It is speculated that practitioners can morph into human beings like Lady Ping, or animal forms like Cloudwalker (crane) and Carved Moonman (deer).

Gangyu: Half human, half qilin. Gangyu's mother is a qilin, a Chinese creature that is usually a hybrid of a dragon, deer or goat. Gangyu has two red horns on its head. Like the unicorn, Gan Yu is a vegetarian.

Kiki: A zombie. Kiki was revived by a spiritist and became an undead creature with no feelings and amnesia due to spiritist magic.

Xiao: Adeptus (bird-like luminous beast). Xiao is the only remaining guardian of the Adeptus, who is a practitioner, and according to his design and legend, his true form is believed to be a bird luminous beast. His alias "Alatus" translates to "winged". His true form has not yet been revealed.

Yan Fei: Half Xiezhi, half human. Similar to the Gangyu Half-Ming, Yan Fei's father is a Xiezhi, a mythical Chinese beast that resembles a cow or goat. Writing is a symbol of justice in China, and Yan Fei is a lawyer, appropriately enough. Yan Fei has two white horns on his head and some scales on his body.

Zhong Li: Adeptus/God. Zhong Li in The Original Gods is a practitioner who appeared in many forms during his reign as Rex Cryptonite. Based on the game's Rex Incognito series, and the half-dragon, half-unicorn form seen in the Ryuketsu Consul quest, Rex Lapis adopted different male and female appearances, but now roams the world as his character. Mortal Weapon, Middle Separation.

Lightning's non-human characters

Because Lightning is set in Japan, many of the non-human characters are based on creatures from Japanese folklore, particularly demons. Demons are known in Japanese mythology as supernatural spirits or entities, similar to the luminous beasts in Ritsuki. Lightning is filled with a variety of characters from playable characters to NPCs. Many of Lightning's demons blend into Lightning's human society without issue, though they are recognized for their powers and talents.

Ito Shintaki: Demon section. Based on the demon of the same name, Ito has red horns and the same fascinating powers as the ghosts. However, he does not have a demon/ogre-like appearance, as he is a hybrid ghost. He is also allergic to beans, which are used to ward off demons in Japanese folklore.

Goro: A unique dog-like species. His dog ears and furry tail resemble the native Japanese Shiba Inu breed.

Kirara: Cat again. Kirara is a cat-like demon with two two-colored cat tails and real paws.

Kujo Sara: Tengu. Her prototype is mainly the crow spirit Utena. Sara has black wings and a bird mask. She is strong enough to defeat the ghost Ito in a duel and take his sight.

Shogun Raiden/Ei: Puppet/god. The Shogun is a puppet (essentially a robot) similar to the Electric Consul Ei. Ei's physical body no longer exists, but her consciousness is stored in the Sword of Mukou Isshin that the Shogun possesses. Ei herself can take the Shogun's body for herself. We do not know if Ei was a creature other than human before she became a consul, but she was considered a thunder god (Raikage) during the Consul War.

Yae Miko: Fox. As in Japanese folklore, a fox is a fox spirit, usually intelligent and mischievous, two characteristics of a witch. She also has pink fox ears and her five fox tails appear during elemental outbreaks. She also has a long life span. In a passing animation, when she is younger and smaller, she appears in the form of a fox.

Suda's non-human character

Sumeru is the newest nation in The Original Gods, and there are still plenty of updates to add new characters in the future. The Sumerians currently have the smallest number of non-human characters among the four nations, and hopefully HoYoverse will continue to draw inspiration from the cultures of South Asia, the Middle East and North Africa to create more unique and interesting characters.

Laila: an unknown species of elf. Her pointy ears are a clear sign of this.

Nahida: Irminsul/God incarnate. Nahida has pointy ears, which suggests she may be an elf. However, at the end of the Sumerian Consul's mission, it is revealed that she is an incarnation of Irminsul, the branch that preserves the knowledge and memory of Tighnat.

Tighnari: A unique fox-like species. His design is based on the Eared Fox, which lives around the Sahara Desert in North Africa. He has long, pointed ears and a shaggy green tail.

Wanderer: Golem. Although the Wanderer currently resides in Sumeru, he is the prototype of Lightning Shogun Lightning Reiji, but has been relieved of his duties.
