Does anyone know why earlier Pc games from the 2000's had multiple discs but when it comes to the same game on Ps2 or Xbox, they were just one?

The PS2's disc spins faster and the laser reading it is smaller. They can cram in more information on one disc.

Running off a disc is different then. Unpacking and installing into a harddisc. Especially when consoles have uniform hardware and PCs are a mixed bag. Lots of things go into this. How much time do you have lol

A combination of disk type and the fact console games have lower resolution textures etc so needed less space in the first place.

Play a console version of a PC game.....you will notice graphics, areas, all sorts of things are severely dumbed down.
