My first PC was the PC that got me into PC gaming. I can't remember at all what type of PC it was just that it was windows 95 and sounded like it was eating itself when you turned it on (Oh the nostalgia). The first "game" that got me into pc gaming was Mindmaze on Encarta 97. I've always seen myself as a gamer, not a gamer of a specific platform though. I was gaming long before I had a PC on the sega master system and mega drive/genesis.
First PC? It was a Packard Bell 486. Didn't even have a sound card, Monkey Island's soundtrack seemed even better coming out of a PC Speaker though. I remember it being an absolute monster though, not fast as such, just built to withstand a nuclear blast x
Ive been gaming forever but what REALLY got me into PC Gaming was going over to a buddies house who had just bought a 3dfx voodoo card in 1997 (i think it was 97) and playing quake. This was 486 dx2 66 era. THe lighting effects of playing with the 3dfx card completely blew my mind, and in retrospect started a revolution that changed pc gaming forever.
First build was more a upgrade had a tandy 1000 that I upgraded the ram HD and videocard. But the first real build was gutting a Packard bell 200mmx and using the parts to build my first custom with the intel Pentium II 400, Shuttle HOT-661 MB with 256 megs of ram, 3.2 gig WD Caviar AC33200 and a Voodoo 2 Vid card. Man was that a screamer to play Mechwarrior 2 and Quake 2 and the first Rainbow 6 on lol.
