Budget Power Computer: To save money, anyone have suggestions on a set-up or system that was powerful about 3 to 4 years ago, and is now a good value and still good enough for many applications?

Start with an Intel Core i5 3rd, 4th, 5th gen, 16Gigs of ram and a GTX 970. You may try for a good but power hungry GTX 780Ti or 780. I even have a mate gaming today on a 670. Go used

4th gen intel is still viable and very capable. i7 4790k.
So is the 900 series cards. 970 is very capable and not been hit too hard by miners
