Anyone have ideas on a substitute for thermal paste?
Non-food items, and literally I mean anything!
Have an old athlon x2 system and I want to test thermals to see if something else would work other than thermal paste/grease/liquid metal. Don't even care if it catches on fire.

I would recommend you just power down the machine until you can get maybe a $9 tube of thermal paste.

Lol all good, it's just a fun post is all, so far I have 3 things to test
1. Anti-seize lubricant (basically aluminum in a paste form)
2. Lucas high temp lithium grease
3. Toothpaste/mix

I honestly wonder how something like JB-weld would work. Obviously your cpu and heatsink would be permanently bonded lol. But most of them are rated for pretty high temps and are meant for metal surfaces

I actually used to do this lmao I had a athlon and no CPU cooler, my solution was to strap a big fan on it and it worked for 6monthd
