I skimmed the wiki and I'd have to disagree. Siva isn't a Virus. It can deconstruct and reconstruct matter.

Not a life-form in itself, the protomolecule is described by Antony Dresden as "a set of free-floating instructions designed to adapt to and guide other replicating systems". It is able to maintain its primary structure in a wide variety of conditions, and it has an affinity for carbon and silicon structures, but is likely anaerobic and will not degrade upon exposure to oxygen

So while not exactly alike, it seems to be rather similar... just an observation while I wait for the end of the month

In a general sense yes. Siva is the first thing I thought of when I saw it lol. Though the concept of a rapidly spreading parasitic microbiological oganism snd/or nanotechnology is a pretty common sci-fi trope.
