What about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis and Painkiller? I used to play OFP and Painkiller a lot when there were still big communities around them. These days I only play them at LAN parties, but they're still great games to this day. STALKER franchise on the other hand is amazing... after you patch the game and throw a few handy mods to it. Although I remember enjoying the games even at day 1 because of the great atmosphere.
