Myself, Im a MK8 fan so Im wondering how the online community is, are there official global rankings, cups etc?

Should we get one now or are there some sweet bundles coming later this year we should wait for?

As both MK8 ans Splatoon on WiiU still seem to have plenty of players (we never have trouble finding matches) Im wondering if its really worth switching just yet, if MK8D &S2 is basically the same games? Do they offer something worth the price?
