Speaking of Sonic Mania boss fights, was I supposed to be able to finish this level without killing the boss?

Same thing happened to me, I got frozen and had to restart the game....still made it to the next zone, weird though....

Weird. The one real glitch i encountered was during the oil ocean act 2 boss. Standing on the platforms when they lower to touch the oil is instant death, for some reason, even though you haven't sunk through it.
