Okay guys. Got some money for Christmas but I’m having trouble deciding what the better buy is.

1. Asus Dual GTX 1060 + a 1080p 144Hz monitor
2. Asus Dual gtx 1070

I went with this card because it matches my white build but I’ll probably switch to an RGB variant for the 1070.

I’m currently gaming on a TV and have an R9 290 that’s shitting out on me.
I could get AP it or in about a month if I get the 1070 but I’m wondering what is the better option.

Thoughts?

Asus Z170 SLI PLUS
8gb Corsair Vengeance 2400mhz RAM

I would probably get the gtx1070 and just put up with your TV until you can afford to buy a new monitor.

The r9 290 is not much slower than a 1060 in all honesty, so anything less than a 1070 wouldn't really be enough of an upgrade.

i'd go 1060s and monitor but that's probably cuz i'm running an hd 7770 with a 1680x1050 and a 1366 x 768

Depends on the game id go with monitor since there isnt a point in getting over 80ish fps if your tv doesn't refresh higher then that

1060. 1070 had trouble at 144hz(if that's even an option to you), and this 1080 does as well, meh.

Yeah I’m thinking upgrade path. Like the only need I would have for 144hz is esports games like League of Legends. I saw a 4K 60hz monitor for like $20 more. But I’ll try to find a curved 144hz 1080p monitor

Ok. I’m seeing a lot of people saying that a R9 290 is neck and neck with a 1060....in my experience this isn’t the case. My buddy has a 1060 6gb and he runs literally everything and gets at least 60fps but my r9 I’m lucky to get 30 on ultra.

I think i’ma go with the 1070 and get a monitor in a month or so. Thanks guys for the help!
