My brother inlaw is wanting to get a pc, looking at around £1200
Trying to get him to build one but he is determined to get a alienware

Anyone here that sells prebuilts or can help persuade him to build one?

Alienware is too overpriced and buying a prebuild is less fun imo. You don't get to know how everything works and that's unfortunate if something fails and needs a replacement.

Tell him to get on Overclockers UK and look for a pre built or a overclocked motherboard/cpu/ram bundle.

Make him learn. Let him buy the crappy hype “alienware” and he will soon regret it

For that price if the gbp is what it was last time I saw it, he could build a much better machine than what alienware will ship.

Further Alienware ships with garbage software. When my ex bought a laptop from them I spent maybe 2 hours cleaning the bloody thing so it would run smoothly

Show him a youtube video on pc building to show him how simple it is and that only an idiot spends 30% more for a badge stuck to the outside of a case with the same parts inside

Alienware is basically a low quality brand with overpriced PCs they always have issues with them as they go as cheap as possible you can save easy 200-300 and spend more on a reliable pc with a lot more performance and a lot cheaper with better quality parts I don’t recommend an Alienware they have a lot of issues hope you realise that you will save money and get a far better pc by building one or a prebuilt

Had an alienware (area 51 ALX) for 7 years now and no regrets. Still runs fine with no errors or problems. Upgraded to windows 10 since and all lights and vents all work fine. Have installed a liquid cooling system though, as the fans on the GPU were too loud when gaming at full load. Yes, they are overpriced but for me, the case alone is worth it, as it looks the bollocks. All I want to do is upgrade to a 1080ti. Good luck if he builds his own or gets an alienware.

Alienware is glorified Dell. Try to convince him to build one. Tell him you'll help him out if that's what it takes. Tell him it'll be fun (it will) and he'll be able to learn something new.

If he doesn’t want to build I found a company on eBay called Freshtech solutions/gaming - they have a store somewhere in the Midlands I think, I ended up not buying on eBay but calling them and getting a bespoke build and I got it within a few days and it’s really nice

Ryzen 5 1600, Gtx 1070, 16gb 3000mhz ram - it monsters 1080p and you’d have a chunk of change

I got pre built from mesh computers. They were good and decent priced

Alienware too overpriced, you can buy the same parts for less.

just make up a build within the same budget and show him how much of a better pc he could have if he built it. maybe offer to help him make it for a pack of beers or something, then you can show him how to do everything while you do it so he learns and sees that it's not as difficult as you would imagine

alienware, medium quality, way overpriced, he would get a system built with pieces that is about 30% faster, overclockers uk have nice systems, but if he buys them individually gets real quality.
