I was wondering if there a way to upscale ripped content, i got a bunch of movies i ripped onto my pc @480p and 720p is there a way to u pscale the quality?
What porn? I just want to upscale my DVD collection for my new 4k tv, cause honestly it looks grainy and i don't want to buy Blu-ray dics and take up more memory on my htpc
DVDs are 480p Simon. And try something like Sony Vegas, where you can upscale and correct sharpness and color somewhat. Not much else you can. The thing is to try upscaling to an aspect ratio that's a direct integer, like 960p, double the res of 480p, or 1920p, 4x the res.
Not really worth upscaling as it won't improve the image quality if any. Also some Blu-Ray players actually upscale movies on there own with a built in processor made for it.
The one issue with upscaling older DVDs is that their video can sometimes be sourced from inferior sources - for example the Star Trek TNG DVDs are sourced from broadcast video tape, whereas the blu-rays come from the original 35mm film stock they shot the show on. As well, shows like Buffy that were shot in 4:3 were cropped to 16:9 for DVD release
