The default key for recording with Shadowplay is Alt + Z, Alt + Z is also a combination in overwatch to hide hud.

Did you turn off your HUD? And if you are using shadowplay...why?

no I recorded from the in-game feature and I didn't turn off the hud

Well press Alt Z brings the Hud back
