Am I going to have performance issues running 16gb ddr3 vrs 8gb ddr4?

I plan on getting a business computer and swapping the parts into a new case and adding a gpu. Has anyone done similar?

I can get an i5, 16gb ddr3, a 1tb drive, and windows 10 for $350. Is it worth?

Another question, will there be issues swapping the drive (and Windows 10) to a new mobo? I shouldn't lose my OS, right?

Basically, I'll spend the money if ddr4 is that much of an improvement, but that means a new mobo which will have to come from my gpu budget.

Better gpu, or new mobo and ram with a less powerful gpu.

Unless you have specifically RAM-bound tasks, the difference is un-noticeable. I jumped from 1600MHz DDR3 (24GB) to 2133MHz DDR4 (32GB, OC to 2400MHz) when I upgraded to Ryzen and the difference IS noticeable, but that's mostly just due to the CPU being much, much more powerful.

Ddr3 is faster but less per cycle. Ddr4 is slightly slower but more per cycle. A ddr3 build will be cheaper than a ddr4 build especially with current ram price hikes but Ddr4 is more current so a bit more future proofing
