Was given Half-Life 2 from a friend, his PC died and he doesn't want to get a new one. Any way to register the game to my steam account or do I have a Half-Life 2 themed coaster set?

Yeah just activate the cd-key on steam, it's in the lower left of the steam client.

I also got a hl2 free from someone where I bought another game. I don't think you can register the key for a second time since it is already registered in another account. If you could register it I would be interested to know how that works.

Yeah if it was already activated you cannot do it again. Anyway, with steam's offers you can get it for like a dollar or two sometimes
