So I'm in the market for a gaming monitor looking at the Asus PG279Q but have since found out that newer monitors are coming out later in the year with 4k 144hz Hdr versions.

so what would be better for me to do buy now or wait?

Is buying the PG279Q even worth buying in 2018?

I’ve got one and love it. Depends if you want a new monitor now tbh. If you can wait there’s a good chance the 4K monitors will drop the price of the 1440p ones

Depends..... Me personally with a 4670k/16GB 2400mhz/single 1080 strix, I still have a hard time on some games at 1440p/144hz. Of course you can lower settings, which I do. But, realistically speaking even if you have 2 1080ti's you're not getting near that 144hz in games. I'm fine on this MG278Q, lolol.
