Should be able to just plug it in. Make sure it allnlines up

which aio do you have?

Align the plug so the notch is over the 3 pins with the little lip above them. Should work fine.

the 4th pin is for PWM. typically an aio is set to run at 100% pump speed no matter what, so fan control isn't required, which is what pwm is. Just connect the notches and you'll be fine 
your problem is probably with your cpu cooler not making contact with your cpu. Check to see if you used the right screws and not amd screws to mount and make sure you took the plastic off of your cooler as well. good luck!
