Isn't much of any. Best bet is a volcano run.

The only problem is the server I'm on has one rule and its no fliers. Which sounds crap but definitely makes the game more challenging

There is that small section of volcanic caves you can walk in to.

Access is just off the shore near where the whales beach themselves and die.

Unfortunately your kinda boned. Best I can say for you is get on a boat and head toward the ice cave facing south .. east of swamp so your safe there..go in with the intention of gathering a lot so you don't have to make another trip for a long Time. If you only need like 10-15 you can boat over to the island east of your islands [has a wall on it and steps leading up] there is a hidden secret cave under it with I believe 5 crystal spawns.

Are you in the scorched islands? If so there is a bunch of crystal in the wyvern spawn by green

Theres a cave down by the wyvern spawn, full of obisian crystals and regular crystals
