Could someone please explain to me matrilineal and patrilineal and what it means if there's mutations in them? I'm new to breeding and I'm trying for a color mutation

Matrilineal and patrilineal simply mean from the mother's or father's line

Well patrilineal means there is a mutation on the fathers side, matrilineal means there is one on the mothers side.
In General, if the mutation counter goes up, it means that your baby got a mutation. Whether that is a color, a stat or both or none can't be seen in the ancestry line tho. You need to check base stats of parents.
