Are you trying to equip a skin or an actual armor head piece?

, well I guess the best question is are you trying to just put a skin in the slot? Because it wears things like cloth/hide/flak and whatnot, and you skin the helmet. (This also gives your little guy some armor!)

Hey I think I know your problem mate, you have to put the hat in the otters inventory before you try to put it in the slot

Also; if you just double tap the hat it’ll just keep switching inventories. Single tap the hat to highlight it then move the cursor to the hat slot and single tap again

Yep definitely I have costumed hats on most of mine.
You're not trying to just put the skin on it are you? You have to put the skin on a hat and then the hat on the otter
