You can do it with a regular mid-sized taming pen, a dino gate and 3x2 foundation. Build up with pillars and close the roof entirely. You can fly a ptera right through them and the griff will get stuck so you can quickly shut it in. Shoot away after it's in.

Build a five by five and use door frames for the walls. Throw a dino gate on it and put a notch in the back wall for your pteranadon. Roof it completely. Agro the griffon, fly through and around. close gate. tranq and tame.. done.

4 dino gateways 2 doors. Place all 4 same direction in a line with enough space to shoot in between. Door at each end. Kite Griffin toward trap. Park bird on back side until Griffin enters trap. Hop of bird and close the door. Tranq away

Use stone pillars. Make a 3x3 structure two pillars high with a stone ceiling on the middle pillar. Leave the bottom middle pillar off for now. Kite it with an Argy or a Ptera and fly through the trap. Have a tribe mate on standby to put the remaining pillars in place to seal it in. Tranq, tranq, tranq... knock it out and feed it mutton. Most important tip of all: don’t die.

Tame it exactly like an argy. Build a trap made of two dino gates and doorframes as walls, and leave one stone ceiling piece missing. Kite it with a pteranodon and fly out of the ceiling while a friend closes the door. Or be a badass like me and do it solo.
